Paul in Athens: Telling Others About the One True God

In Acts 17:16–34, Paul visits the city of Athens, a place full of idols and altars to many gods. He feels sad that the people don’t know the one true God. When he is invited to speak at the Areopagus, Paul tells everyone about the Creator who made the heavens and the earth. He points to an altar that says, “To an unknown god,” and explains that this unknown God is the true and living God who raised Jesus from the dead.

Some people laughed, but others believed and began to follow Jesus.

This story teaches kids that they should share God’s truth wherever they go, remember that only God deserves our worship, and never be afraid to talk about Jesus.

Memory Verse:
“The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man.” — Acts 17:24 (ESV)

Three lessons from this story.

  1. Tell others about God wherever you go.
  2. Remember that the one true God made everything and loves everyone.
  3. Even if some people don’t believe right away, never stop sharing about Jesus—because one message can change a heart forever.
