Obey God No Matter What: The Apostles Stand for Jesus

In Acts 5:17–42, we read about the apostles who were arrested for teaching about Jesus. The religious leaders didn’t want them to share the good news, but an angel freed them from prison and told them to keep preaching. When the apostles were brought before the council again, Peter said, “We must obey God rather than men.” Even when they were punished, they rejoiced because they knew they were doing what was right.

This story teaches children three powerful lessons: we should always obey God, He gives us courage to stand firm, and following Jesus is worth it no matter what happens.

Memory Verse:

“We must obey God rather than men.” — Acts 5:29 (ESV)

3 Lessons from “Obey God No Matter What” (Acts 5:17–42):

  1. Always Obey God First – When people tell us to do something against God’s Word, we should choose to obey God. He is our ultimate authority.

  2. God Gives Courage to the Faithful – Just like the apostles, we don’t have to be afraid when we stand up for what is right. God will give us strength and courage to do His will.

  3. Rejoice Even in Hard Times – Even when things get tough, we can still find joy knowing we are doing what pleases God. He rewards those who stay faithful.
